Hey there!
Here is the "step by step" I promised from my earlier post. At the end of this post, I answered a few questions you might have for me. Feel free to leave me your thoughts or more questions!
At first, I was going to make each mask using only one fabric design but then I decided to add an inner fabric. Here is how I did them:
With right sides together, I sew the right along the front seams.
Then I placed on pair on top of the other
Sew them together with more or less the same seam allowance
It looked like this
Then I flipped it inside out
And here is how it looks right before putting the elastics on the sides.
Questions you might have
1. Why did I sew the green fabric with the floral one together?
After sharing my sewing ideas on different platforms, some of my fellow sewers raised the concern with having a seam right along the nose and mouth area. Therefore, I figured that by adding another layer of fabric to each mask it was better than just using one layer.
2. Did I sew the sides fabrics together?
No. My main focus was to make sure that each mask had a least two layers of fabrics.

3. How to cut masks faster
After washing the fabrics, I ironed them and folded them in half, so when I cut the pattern, I had two single pieces.
4. Are both layers of fabric 100% cotton?
Yes.
5. Are the masks safe to use?
I am not claiming that any home made masks are better than the medical ones. Like many sewers I know, I wanted to help out and decided to make masks to donate. I am hoping that they can use these mask along sides their medical ones to add more "comfort" or "protection".
Yes.

6. Are they washable?
They are made with 100 % cotton so I would say they are. But the elastic might not be heat resistant so I would watch out for the heat level used in the dryer.

7. Is there another mask pattern that I know of?
There are many other designs out there, but there is one more that I am going to try. Here is the link for it: Rectangular mask
